Dhal Parantha

(Recipe courtesy Aks-e-rasoi)

I saw this recipe on TVtoday and immediately tried. I loved the fact this is a whole meal as such and can be packed for kids lunch too.

Ingredients
Wheat Flour - 2 cups
Pressure cooked dhal(I used moong dhal /payatham paruppu)- 1 cup
Onion- chopped finely - 1 cup
Fresh coriander - chopped finely - 1/2 cup
Grated ginger - 1 teaspoon
Chilly powder - 1 teaspoon
Turmeric - 1 teaspoon
Garam masala - 1 teaspoon
salt to taste

Procedure
1.Pressure cook the dhal and let it cool.

2.In a bowl take wheat flour, add the cooked  dhal( first add 3/4 of the dhal, mix and see whether you need more. Then add the rest to avoid more dhal than the flour).
3.Then mix the onions, coriander leaves, ginger and all the dry powders.

4.Knead well to form a soft dough. Add water only if necessary(Dhal will have enough moisture content).
5.Take a lemon sized dough. Dust it with dry whear flour. Flatten it to get a nice round shape.

6.Brush oil on top and fold it inside on all four sides.

7. Heat a pan and cook the paranthas on both sides by applying oil or ghee.
