If you want to give bottle gourd to kids without their knowledge this is a very good recipe. Bottle gourd is a diuretic and aids in digestion(rich in fibre). I made this adai today and nobody in my house knew that I had added bottle gourd. It was tasty and a big hit..
Ingredients
Bottle gourd - grated finely - 2 cups
Par boiled rice - 2 cups
Raw rice - 1 cup
Tuar dhal - 1 cup
Channa dhal - 1 cup
Urad dhal - 1 cup
Dry red chillies - 7/8
Curry leaves
Salt to taste
Procedure
1. Soak the rice and dhal for 2 hours
2. Grind together along with red chillies, curry leaves and salt. It should be a coarse batter(rawa consistency).
3. Mix the grated bottle gourd at the time of making adai. Don't mix before itself as bottle gourd has the tendency to ooze water.
4. Spread the batter on a heated Dosai pan. Add oil and cook on both sides.
5. Serve this with sambar or curd.
